TRIO Programs are federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education. These programs are offered by various universities and community colleges throughout Arkansas. Programs and services vary by location.
Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC).
Assists low-income, first-generation college students or those who have dropped out of college to enroll in 2- or 4-year college programs. Benefits includes free skills testing, assistance applying for college and financial aid, academic advising, tutoring and mentoring, career counseling and planning, assistance applying for veterans resources.
Student Support Services.
Helps low-income students to stay in college until they earn their bachelor's degrees. Participants receive tutoring, counseling and remedial instruction.
Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement.
Designed to encourage low-income students and minority undergraduates to consider careers in college teaching as well as prepare for doctoral study. Students who participate in this program are provided with research opportunities and faculty mentors.
Veterans Upward Bound.
Provides intensive basic skills development and short-term remedial courses for military veterans to help them successfully transition into college. Benefits includes free skills testing, assistance applying for college and financial aid, academic advising, tutoring and mentoring, career counseling and planning, assistance applying for veterans resources.
