September Volunteer of the Month - Rosie Staples

Rosie became a Phillips County single parent scholarship fund volunteer in 2013. A certified dietician, she quickly shared her skills by providing hands-on healthy cooking/eating workshops to the single parents of Region 4. Thanks to her workshops, participants gained hands-on experience by assisting in meal preparation. Students enjoyed cutting, chopping, measuring and, of course, tasting the fresh ingredients and partaking of the completed meal. They learned about proportion size, the value of fresh/frozen food over-processed, and meal preparation for themselves and their families. Recipes were provided so they could make the meal at home with their children. Rosie not only volunteers her nutritious cooking skills in workshops, but she also utilizes those same skills in fundraising for the single parent scholarship fund.

Rosie is the all-around volunteer. She reviews application, interviews, shares her insight on the regional leadership committee and helps with all aspects of moving our single parents towards self-sufficiency. Her community service shows up in everything she does for Phillips County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Region 4, her family and others. We salute our volunteer of the month and look forward to her delicious food for our fundraisers.
