August Volunteer of the Month - Marvin Warren

Frequently, those of us who work in nonprofits lean heavily on our family and friends to help us get all the work done. Some respond graciously and others not so much, but one who has always gone above and beyond to be helpful is this month’s Volunteer of the Month, Marvin Warren. The husband of Region 6 Program Manager, Sandra Warren, Marvin is one of the very best “silent volunteers” and a true regional volunteer. He has shown immense support and encouragement to Sandra and works tirelessly and unselfishly to help meet the needs of Single Parent Scholarship Fund.

Marvin has assisted with the student interview process, awards presentations, fundraising efforts, as an event photographer, with workshop set-up & breakdown, and even as Sandra’s late-night driver to help her get her work done and get home safely.

There seemingly is nothing he is not willing to do to help advance the ASPSF vision. Once during an awards presentation ceremony, the number of participants was double what was expected. Marvin had ordered food for a different meeting he was preparing for, but to ensure we had enough food for the event, he donated his food and made alternate plans for his own meeting.

He and Sandra have been married 27 years, have two children and one granddaughter. Marvin has been pastoring for over 37 years and has been employed with Texarkana Arkansas School District for 24 years. We are truly blessed to have Marvin on our team.
