ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Effective Fall 2017 new applicants and applicants who were not awarded in the prior term (Spring or Summer 2017) follow our new eligibility criteria.

Applicants who are renewing a scholarship (awarded in Spring or Summer 2017) continue to follow the guidelines under which you entered our program, as long as you are continuously awarded each spring and fall.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

The following documents are required and must be submitted with your completed application form by the application deadline (above). Use the Upload Tool found in the Supporting Documents section of the application to attach the documents. Be sure to attach these documents to your application before you submit it.

New Applicants:

  • Personal goal statement. A statement explaining why you chose your particular course of study and what you hope to achieve. Feel free to include any information about yourself that might be helpful to the Selection Committee in its evaluation.
  • Three (3) letters of reference. Ask three people (not related to you) who are familiar with your life experiences and character to write letters of reference in support of your scholarship application. All letters must include the author's complete contact information (name, address, telephone, email).
  • High school transcript. Provide one of the following:
    • High school transcript and diploma
    • GED Certificate and test scores
  • Official transcripts. Official transcripts from all colleges or schools you have attended. NOTE: official transcripts are sealed (unopened) and stamped or signed by the registrar. Transcripts may not be faxed. Official electronic transcripts will be accepted if sent through the eScript-Safe system to singleparentscholars@gmail.com.
  • Proof of admission. A letter of acceptance/admission from the school you plan to attend during the term in which this scholarship will be used. Alternatively, provide an official transcript that indicates your current enrollment.
  • FAFSA application. An award letter or email confirmation showing your EFC.
  • Photo ID. A copy of your valid (unexpired) photo ID card.
  • Tax return. A copy of your most recently filed federal tax return (such as form 1040).
  • Signed release form. (If prompted to create an account, click X to close then download the form).

Current Recipients:

  • Status update form. Notify us of any changes in your contact information, your marital status, dependent status, physical address, financial status, degree program, etc.
  • Official transcripts. Your current official transcript that shows your current academic standing and progress. NOTE: official transcripts are sealed (unopened) and stamped or signed by the registrar. Transcripts may not be faxed. Official electronic transcripts will be accepted if sent through the eScript-Safe system to singleparentscholars@gmail.com.
  • Proof of enrollment. Confirmation of enrollment during the term in which this scholarship will be used. Alternatively you may provide an official transcript that indicates your enrollment status for the scholarship term or a copy of your schedule that has been stamped by the registrar.
  • Signed release form. (If prompted to create an account, click X to close then download the form).

INTERVIEWS AND AWARDS

After the application deadline all eligible applicants will receive an email invitation to a personal interview with instructions for scheduling your appointment. Applicants who fail to schedule or attend this interview will be disqualified immediately.

You will receive notice of your award or denial once all interviews are complete. Award letters will specify the date scholarships will be distributed along with instructions to receive your award. You may be asked to submit a current class schedule in order to receive your award.

  1. Review our new Eligibility Criteria and the list of Required Supporting Documents (above).
  2. Collect all required supporting documents. Scan or save them to your computer or to a portable drive in one of the following file formats: PDF, XLS (or XLSX), DOC (or DOCX), or RTF. Need help? Read Tutorial: How to Scan & Upload Documents.
  3. Apply each semester you need a scholarship. Click the application link (above). Application links are only available when applications are being accepted.
  4. Login to your account. Contact us (above) if you have trouble logging in. Or create a new account if you don't have one.
  5. Complete your application. You can save your work and log back into your account later if you need more time to finish your application. Be sure to complete all sections and all questions accurately. Upload all required supporting documents before you submit your application. Once your application is submitted, you won't be able to change your answers or attach any missing documents.
  6. Submit your application before the deadline. You will see a SUBMISSION SUCCESSFUL message on your screen if your application is submitted successfully.
  7. Check the status of your application and update your personal profile by logging into your account. DRAFT status on your application means it has not been submitted properly.
