- Spring semester - February 15
- Fall semester - September 15
Eligibility Requirements:
- A resident of Clark County, Arkansas,
- A high school or GED graduate,
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater,
- A single head of household (single, divorced, or widowed) with majority custody of at least one minor child and designated as the primary caregiver,
- Pursuing a career-oriented course of study to ensure a better standard of living for his/her family;
- Applicants cannot already have earned an undergraduate degree with the exception of students working towards a Master of Arts in Teaching.
- A low-income person at or below the poverty level, according to HHS Federal Poverty Guidelines;
- Applied for and/or received a Pell Grant;
Required Supporting Documentation:
The following items must be submitted, along with a completed scholarship application, by the scholarship deadline.
- All Applicants
- Permission Release Form - Required once per year. Download the Permission to Release Confidential Information form.
- Proof of Pell Grant Application - Attach a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) or unofficial printout from the financial aid office showing your awards for the semester. Students not eligible for Pell Grant must still provide proof of financial aid to be considered for this scholarship. Apply for the Pell Grant if you have not already done so.
- Transcript - A current official or unoffical transcript is acceptable. Note: If you have never before attended college, attach a unofficial copy of your high school transcript.
- Federal Tax Return - Required once per year only The first page of your current tax return is acceptable. If you are not required to file taxes, this document does not apply to you.
- Proof of Enrollment - A letter of acceptance from the registrar's office or unofficial class schedule are both acceptable.
- Additional Documentation for new applicants only
- Letters of Recommendation - Have three (3) people (not related to you) write letters of reference. They should be familiar with your life experiences and with your character. Letters must be uploaded or mailed and be on file in our office.
- Proof of Divorce Decree - If applicable, provide a copy of your divorce decree by uploading the document or by mail. Proof must be on file in our office for consideration of the scholarship. Note: If you have never been married, this attachment is not required.
- Personal Statement - The personal statement must be uploaded or mailed and be on file in our office. A personal statement highlights your goals and why you deserve to receive our scholarship. One paragraph is acceptable.
