2012 AEP/SWEPCO SCHOLARS SUB-GRANT PROGRAM
About the AEP/SWEPCO Scholars Program
The American Electric Power Foundation has awarded a $60,000 grant to ASPSF, to be distributed to affiliates in the AEP/SWEPCO service area in 2012 and 2013. We will sub-grant up to $2,000 per year to affiliates that demonstrate the greatest need for additional support, based on scholarship output and application processing. Applicants in 2012 will show proof that they have set goals, engaged in substantial fundraising efforts, publicized their efforts throughout their service area, and have met all of the reporting requirements of the ASPSF for 2011-2012.
Application and Guidelines
Click here for Application Guidelines. Completed applications must be submitted to the ASPSF office no later than June 8, 2012. Please submit proposals and attachments electronically or by mail. Click here for contact information.
Below is a list of counties in the AEP/SWEPCO Corporation's service area. Single Parent Scholarship Funds serving any of these counties may apply for a sub-grant.
Grantees will select AEP/SWEPCO Scholars from among their respective pools of scholarship applicants who reside in counties listed above. Students will receive at least $500 in scholarship awards for full-time study. Each student will also receive a certificate recognizing her or him as an AEP/SWEPCO Scholar, signed by an AEP/SWEPCO Corporation official and the President of the Affiliate’s Single Parent Scholarship Fund Board of Directors.
Sub-grants awarded to SPSF affiliates will be considered by ASPSF to be local contributions and will be matched according to ASPSF Matching Grant Guidelines.
Grantees are required to host a ceremony to announce scholarship awards designated as AEP/SWEPCO Scholars. Nearest officials of AEP/SWEPCO will be invited to participate in the ceremony. Affiliates must submit news releases to all local broadcast and print media describing the scholarship award event, the generosity of the American Electric Power Foundation, and the involvement of local AEP/SWEPCO officials in the presentation of the awards. Affiliates shall also take photographs at the events to include with the news release. Copies of photos with appropriate captions must also be submitted to the ASPSF newsletter editor.
