FAN/SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIP

About the Program
Furniture and Appliances Now Sales and Leasing (FAN) has made a $15,000 contribution to the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, to be distributed to affiliates in the retailer's service area.

Application Requirements and Guidelines
The ASPSF will award $1,000 to affiliates that demonstrate need for additional support. Applicants will show proof that they have set goals, engaged in fundraising efforts, publicized their efforts throughout their service area, and have met all of the reporting requirements of the ASPSF for 2009-2010.

FAN sub-grants will qualify for match through the ASPSF matching grant program, with the exception of those affiliates which have already received the maximum match during the current year.

To be considered for a grant award, the following information must be received at the ASPSF office on or before Friday, March 19, 2010, no later than 4:30 p.m.:

• Name, position, and contact information of person submitting request,
• Affiliate planning documentation that describes the annual goals of the affiliate, and strategies for meeting those goals,
• Fundraising plans for 2010 that include the financial goals,
• Publicity plans and evidence of publicity in 2009-2010.

Affiliates awarded FAN support must agree to designate awardees of these funds as FAN Scholars. Awardees will receive at least $500 each in scholarship awards and will participate in ceremonies honoring them. Affiliate representatives shall invite the closest FAN official, along with local media, to participate in the award ceremonies. Each awardee will receive a certificate recognizing her or him as a FAN Scholar, signed by a FAN official and the President of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund Board of Directors. Affiliates will provide to ASPSF copies of publicity and news coverage of the event for its final report to FAN.
