ADHE/SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Only current affiliates of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund are eligible to directly receive funding through this project. Single parents may apply for scholarship support through the SPSF affiliate that serves the county in which s/he lives.

Grant Period: July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013

Guidelines, Report Forms, and Other Resources:

Overview:

Recognizing our common interests in higher education, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) and the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) have partnered once again to offer supplemental scholarships to single parents during the 2012-2013 academic year. The ADHE has awarded $175,000 to be distributed through the ASPSF affiliate network for the purpose of increasing the number of single parents who pursue higher education and who receive Single Parent Scholarships in Arkansas.

Participation Requirements and Guidelines:

Affiliates will receive a pre-determined grant amount based on the number of single parents living at or below 130% of poverty in each county (see Funding Distribution Chart).

Participating affiliates agree to fully disburse all ADHE funds by June 30, 2013 by awarding scholarships identified as ADHE/Single Parent Scholarships. The dollar value of scholarship awards is at the discretion of each affiliate, although a scale based on $500 or more for full-time study is strongly recommended.

Affiliates are required to have on file a signed Permission to Release Confidential Information form for each ADHE/Single Parent Scholarship awardee.

Affiliates agree to submit to ASPSF a Scholarship Awardee Information Report form detailing all required information plus any optional information permitted by each ADHE/SPSF awardee as per their respective Permissions to Release Confidential Information.
